Zoe trained at Phibrows on a microblading course in 2018 to which then led to her passion in the semi permanent makeup world and other courses in lip blush ombré brows & eyeliner.

Zoe, born in Oxford, lived in Germany but spent most of her childhood and teens growing up in Hampshire & Surrey. She has a passion for art, music & dancing as well as being a major foodie with a big sweet tooth.

Appointments

Please contact our reception team on 020 7717 9665 to make your appointment or if you have any questions about our Covid-19 procedure. We politely request that you notify the clinic at least 48 hours in advance if you wish to cancel or reschedule your appointment to avoid paying a cancellation fee.

Over 65’s and Most Vulnerable

If clients are over 65 or vulnerable, we are accommodating them with the first appointment in the morning or the last appointment in the evening wherever possible. If you are in this group and wish to take advantage of this option, please make it clear when booking.

What to expect during your appointment

• Please download the NHS track and trace App. It is now required when you arrive at the clinic
• On arrival both client and staff temperatures are be taken with a contact free temperature gun as you enter the clinic, if anyone shows any sign of fever (38°or above), they will be asked to leave and not return for 14 days.
• The waiting area is ready for self-distancing but it’s important you are on time for your appointment. If you are running late please call the clinic. We may need to re-scheduled your appointment time slightly to avoid congestion.
• Our treatment room is cleansed thoroughly between clients appointments, as are our non-disposable tools.
• Your bill may, where possible, be settled before the completion of your treatment to reduce congestion.

The Coronavirus outbreak is a serious concern for us, and the health and safety of our clients is a top priority. Whilst we all adjust to the impact of COVID-19 we would like to let you know what we are doing here at the Sian Dellar Clinic at Harley Street.

Our clinic & reception are professionally cleaned each morning using surface spray and anti-bacterial sprays. The Harley Street reception area has all surfaces including door handles, stair rails, using disposable cleaning paper and anti-bacterial spray every two hours.

We have available at our reception desks anti-bacterial hand cleanser and encourage all clients to use on arrival.

We are following the government guidelines and not allowing into work any team member who has a temperature and a new continuous cough. We would also respectfully ask any clients showing symptoms not to visit the clinic and put at risk the health and safety of our team and other clients.

High Brow

Adding definition and lift to the face, our brows become more important as we age. We consult the experts on the secrets to a balanced brow – from make up to maintenance and beyond.

Eyebrows can transform the face when they are well balanced. Beautifully shaped brows not only frame your face, but also give instant lift, accentuating your cheekbones and opening up the entire eye area. Get brows wrong however, and this delicate balance is easily disturbed. An exaggerated arch creates a permanently surprised expression, for instance and an overextended tail can give eyes a droopy appearance.

Microblading by Sian Dellar at 1 Harley Street

To begin my treatment Sian took photos of my brows, before applying a thick layer of numbing cream. We discussed how I normally ‘wear’ my brows and what I was hoping to get out of the treatment. My eyebrows are dark but fairly flat, so I asked for a more defined arch and complained that my left eyebrow never behaved as well as its counterpart (Sian had no problem whipping it into shape!). Before the treatment being in earnest, she pencilled in a new shape for me to approve and then proceeded to trace over her outline, drawing in individual hairs with a mini scalpel. The treatment was more painful than expected (each incision is gone over two or three times to ensure that the pigment holds) but was over before I knew it, and it was perfectly manageable in exchange for a year of brand new brows. Be warned, your new brows are startlingly dark at first, but they will quickly settle down and you’ll be ready to pop back into the clinic for your complimentary six-week top up. Though not cheap, if you’re looking to make the investment, I can’t imagine a safer pair of hands than Sian.

What are the benefits of lipstick tattooing?

Who is lipstick tattooing best suited to?

The treatment is fully bespoke and can be adapted depending on the outcome you want. Is the process similar to microblading for eyebrows or is it a different method? 

They are both treatments that are used to provide clients with lasting make-up that doesn’t wash off! Semi-permanent makeup requires the use of a machine to place a pigment into the dermis. Whereas, microblading uses a manual tool that is used to etch pigments into the epidermal layer of the skin, so slightly shallower than the dermis.  It is the tools and technique that differentiate the two, however are both have professional and great looking outcomes!

Can you give us a quick step-by-step of an appointment? 

A numbing cream will be applied to your lips prior to the treatment, while you discuss the outcome you are hoping to achieve in a through consultation, where we discuss the shape, pigments and the overall outcome. The pigments chosen will be dependent on your natural lip colour and will be tailored to the depth of colour you want from the treatment. Pigment can be applied all over your natural lips to give colour and definition, or overlined slightly to create the appearance of a fuller lip. The treatment can take 45 minutes to one hour.

How do you choose the colour of the lipstick tattoo?

Normally clients want a shade that is wearable during the day and at night. Subtle colours can always be gradually enhanced and the most requested shades are the more natural. Lots of clients bring in their favourite lipstick into the clinic, as this is often their preferred shade.

How long does the tattooing take? 

The tattooing itself can take 45 minutes to one-and-a-half hours.

How long does lip tattooing last? Do you need touch-ups?

Colour can last up to a year; however, the pigment will fade naturally and lighten over this time. A colour boost procedure should be carried out every 6-12 months.

Does lip tattooing hurt?

A highly skilled, practitioner in semi-permanent makeup will take every precaution to reduce discomfort. Before the application, we numb the area and do not proceed until you feel comfortable.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime required for this procedure. The colour is extremely rich for two days before the lips start to shed the excess dead skin. Afterwards, the colour beneath becomes about 50 per cent less intense.

What’s the aftercare process?

We provide you with a healing balm on the day of our treatment which should be applied regularly to help your lips heal. You are advised to avoid getting your lips wet and not to eat any salty or spicy food. The healing process can take up to 10 days with lips.

Aftercare

• The healing balm should be applied 2-3 times a day for the first 7-10 days or until the area has completely healed.
• Avoid spicy, salty and citric food/drinks for the first 4 Days.
• Drink through a straw for the first 4 days.
• No kissing for the first 7 Days.Use a lip care product (lip balm, chapstick) that is SPF 20 or more in warmer climates.
• No swimming, sauna/jacuzzi, sun beds or exercise for the first 7-10 days.
• If you are planning on undergoing any lip augmentation treatments eg: lip fillers you must wait until 1 month after your make up treatment before doing so.
• If you suffer from cold sores/herpes simplex, please use Zovirax for 7 days prior and the 7 days after treatment. Do not use the healing balm during this time.

Maintenance  

• It is advisable to use a high SPF to protect your enhancement and keep the colour vibrant.
• Avoid exfoliation on the treatment area.
• Strong sun, skin peels, exfoliation, AHA, retin-A creams will all contribute to the colour fading quickly.
• An annual colour refresh treatment will be needed to ensure the stunning results remain fresh and long lasting.

A huge part of being a skilled semi-permanent make up is to match up their clients colouring perfectly. For this they must have a skilled understanding and an artistic eye for the different range of individual skin tones and how the pigments will look when they are healed.

Pigment Advice

Sian advises,

“It is worth checking with your technician where they have sourced their pigments from. There are plenty of fake pigments on the market, especially for sale on the internet, therefore you must always do your due diligence on your practitioner and the pigments they use before. All professional technicians won’t mind disclosing where their products come from as badly sourced pigment can cause a reaction in the skin that migrates beyond the area implanted or the skin can fail to hold it properly”.

Orange Colour

In the press lately it has been noted that some people have complained about an orange after colour. Sian says,

“This shouldn’t happen. Often when you hear people complaining about orange tones in their eyebrows, it often means the therapist has overloaded the warm tones to the skin that turn the brows orange or they may have used pigments with iron oxide which the body cannot break down.”

When it comes to deciding on a colour for your eyebrows, lips or eyeliner, your semi-permanent make up technician should always discuss your options fully.  Research on the technician, their experience and what pigments they use plays a huge part in your final result. Trust is a huge part of the consultation process and you should be comfortable that your technician knows what they are doing.

Consultation

You will usually find that during a consultation, your technician will spend a lot of time staring at your face. It is a very essential part of the process to ensure the correct pigment mix is chosen. Your technician will be assessing lots of elements of your skin tone. They will consider the colour of your eyes and look for underlying colour tones, such as red or blues or yellows. They may ask what colours you think suit you the best and it is always a great idea to take along your favourite pieces of make up to a semi-permanent make up consultation. These preferred colours are usually most loved for a reason.

Whichever pigments are finally used, it will most likely be a custom blend, created especially for you. This is why so much semi-permanent make up is referred to as ‘bespoke’, because when it comes to semi-permanent make up it really is not the case that one size fits all.
